Welcome to the homepage for saxophonist | composer Wil Swindler, recipient of the 2008 Gil Evans Fellowship. Wil is an active performer and composer on the Colorado jazz scene, based in Longmont, CO near Denver and Boulder. Swindler can be heard as a performer as well as contributing composer with his Elevenet (jazz11.com), Onda, Tyler Gilmore's Ninth+Lincoln Orchestra, Red Sylvester, Manny Lopez's Latin Jazz Project, the Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Otra Vez, Gretchen Troop and as musical director for vocalist Barron Steffen. You can also catch him ocassionally with the Fort Collins Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Central City Opera, and at the Buell Theater in Denver. Beginning in the fall of 2009, Wil will join the music department at Colorado State University as an adjunct professor teaching jazz theory/arranging and directing two ensembles. Mr. Swindler has served as an Adjunct Saxophone Teacher at Denver University, composition teacher for the Colorado Conservatory of the Jazz Arts, faculty at the Yellowstone Jazz Camp as well as the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Camp, and maintains an active private studio of saxophone and composition students.
